Homeschooling

I think I’ve had enough of changes. But life doesn’t have a pause button, does it? We have to keep going. Sometimes I feel like I’m playing the old Mario Brothers game in real life. Jump over that spikey thing. Punch the bad guy. Climb the wall. Whoops, you fell off. Do you get to go to the infirmary and rest? Nope, you just blink a couple times and start over. 😳😂

This week we had to make some hard choices for our kids. We decided to take our “middles” out of school and home school them. We had discussed homeschooling in the past. This however, was spurred by what we will call “irreconcilable differences” with their school administrators. No school is perfect, I get that. But sometimes you come to a place where you realise, you can do better at home, with less stress and less nonsense than at a school.

I also realise home schooling is a hot button topic. It’s a privilege. Honestly, it wasn’t an option for us last year. Last year before I was pregnant and had finally gone back to work full time. But because of the surprise twins, I’m home again, and so bringing my kids home from school was and is an option. There are ways that yes, you could homeschool with 2 full time working parents, but I also know this isn’t practical or even reasonable for most families. It certainly wasn’t for ours.

Finding myself here, home schooling three of six children. Infant twins at 37. This is not where I saw myself being in 2023. It’s where I have landed though. Another stop on the struggle bus. So come along with me for this ride. Apparently add homeschooling to the topics we will talk about here.
